What does it cost to make a game with AI?
Budget for a complete iteration, not one prompt. Keep model usage, asset jobs, tool access, and your own time separate. Use a small recorded session to estimate the next stage instead of promising a fixed cost per game.

In this guide
A budgeting worksheet, not a price quote or a measured cost benchmark. Current Dashpop pricing is linked below.
Separate the things you pay for
Some products bundle these; others bill them separately. Read the actual plan rather than assuming a model subscription includes every connected tool.
| Cost | What to record |
|---|---|
| Access | Subscriptions or workspace fees for the tools you use |
| Model work | Authoring, reviews, repairs, and other billed calls |
| Assets | Images, models, animation, sound, or licensed materials |
| Delivery | Build, hosting, and distribution expenses where applicable |
| Your time | Setup, checking, manual changes, and playtesting |
Measure one complete small session
“A working pickup and delivery rule” is a useful unit. “A game” can mean five minutes of browser play or several years of production. It makes a terrible fixed-price unit without more detail.
- Save the starting project and the specific task.
- Record the initial build or change and its billed usage.
- Include every repair needed to reach the accepted result.
- Record asset jobs and manual interventions separately.
- Write down what the accepted result actually does.
Make a range, then revisit it
Use your session record to plan a similar task. Keep uncertainty visible for work you have not attempted, such as a new asset workflow or target platform. Do not multiply the cheapest successful prompt by a feature count and call it a production budget.
Set a stopping point before a long repair session. When you reach it, inspect what is failing and whether the project needs a different approach. Another retry is a decision, not a law of nature.
How Dashpop credits fit
Dashpop credits are not tokens or a promised number of finished games. Managed AI calls reserve an approved maximum and reconcile measured usage. Usage consumed before a failure can still count, and uncertain usage may remain reserved while it is reconciled.
Check the pricing and model-rates pages for credit costs and usage examples. A sample call on that page is one call, not a complete game budget.
Put your idea to work with the Dashpop Game Engine. Describe a game, play it quickly, and shape it yourself. Start with one change you can test.
